How Clear Aligners Work

Clear aligners are individual steps within a series of esthetic removable appliances to provide orthodontic treatment.

The central component of an aligner system is the treatment setup.

-Each aligner is only one part of the system

-The setup is the "brains" of the system

-Careful attention to preparing the setup provides for system efficiencies in fewer steps, more predictable movements, treatment time and overall quality of the result.

Complex tooth movements and treatment are aided by auxiliaries.

-Engagers/Attachments

-Buttons and elastics

-Pre-aligner appliances such as Class II/III correctors

-Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs)

Patient Cooperation is essential

-Regular wear schedule

-Use of Chewies and auxiliaries (elastics)
