Orthodontic Conditions
Clear aligners offer solutions for a wide variety of oral problems, and because of their aesthetic appearance, patients are more likely to wear them.
They may also be used by some doctors in combination with, or in preparation for, other types of treatment like creating space for implants, or stabilizing teeth after surgery.
- Crowding
The condition in which the teeth are too close together and have abnormal positions such as overlapping. displacement in various directions, or torsion. A good starter case would be < 3 mm of overlap In total.
- Spacing
When there are interdental spaces and a lack of contact points between teeth. A good starter case would be < 3 mm of spacing In total.
- Midline Misalignment
When there is a discrepancy between the midsagittal line of maxillary and mandibular dental arches. A good starter case would be < 2 mm
- Overjet
Increased projection of the upper teeth in front of the lower teeth, usually measured parallel to the occlusal plane. A good starter case would be < 2 mm of correction.
- Deep Bite
Increased vertical overlapping of the mandibular anterior (lower front) teeth by the maxillary anterior (upper front) teeth, usually measured perpendicular to the occlusal plane. A good starter case would be < 2 mm of correction.
- Open Bite
An abnormal dental condition where the anterior teeth In the maxilla do not occlude those in the mandible in any mandibular position." A good starter case would be < 2 mm.
- Crossbite
An abnormal relationship of one or more teeth of one arch to the opposing tooth or teeth of the other arch due to labial, buccal, or lingual deviation of tooth position, or to abnormal jaw position." Good starter case: > 1mm but < 2 mm discrepancy between retruded contact position and intercuspal position.
- Edge-to-edge
An occlusion in which the anterior teeth of both Jaws meet along their Incisal edges when the teeth are in centric occlusion.
