Patient goals: consider what is patient's chief complaint is and what results they would want to see.
Collect information: medical and dental history
Intraoral examination
occlusion
extraoral examination
clinical photographs
intraoral scans
radiograph
family history
personal history
history of any allergies
drug and habit history
Establish complexity: Assess the cumulative number of conditions observed in the patient.
Assessing the patient's goals and objectives and if these conditions will allow reaching those goals. Consider the predictability of the movements required to address the condition.
Are there any contraindications in the medical history?
Is there any unseen pathology?
Treatment goals: Determine which conditions will be addressed in the treatment.
Is there any preference of the patient?
Depending upon the goals and information provided, select the most appropriate treatment option.
